Adopting a kitten...
All animals need a lot of love and attention.
We at Worthing Cat Welfare Trust aim to give our rescue
cats the best possible advantages by being re-homed with a loving person/family.
We know all our cats before they are re-homed and will endevour to place them in suitable surroundings.
We know if our cats need a home with no other pets or if they mix well with other cats/dogs. Some
of our rescue cats need to be kept indoors due to disabilities such as blindness.
SETTLING IN YOUR KITTEN |
 |
Let the kitten inspect his/her new home.
Show him/her his/her litter tray and his/her bed. Do not leave him/her on his/her own.
Offer him/her a little food and keep an eye on him/her until he/shes tires and goes to
sleep. |
|
|
DO NOT LET THE FAMILY PULL HIM /HER ABOUT - REMEMBER HE/SHE IS A LIVING CREATURE AND NOT
A TOY. |
|
Your kitten will be frightened and distressed after leaving his/her companions, so lots of cuddles
and tender loving care will be needed. Give him/her a soft toy to snuggle up to. He/she needs four
meals a day with clean water always available, do not feed dried food until he/she is at least
six months old. Do not leave uneaten food down especially in hot weather. |
 |
|
 |
It is important to have your kitten vaccinated against cat 'flu and feline enteritis'
(combined vaccine) normally done at 12-15 weeks old. Keep him/her indoors until his/her
injections are completed. It is also now possible to vaccinate cats against Feline Leukaemia
and we would strongly advise you to discuss this with your vet. |
|
|
Do not leave your kitten unsupervised; he/she will not be independent until after neutering
at six months old. |
If you do have the misfortune to lose your kitten, please tell us as soon as
possible.
|
If you feel you would like to offer one (or more) of our cats a real home, please contact
Iris.Green@WorthingCatWelfare.co.uk
or phone 01903-202251. Our welfare officer will come along to meet you and to discuss your requirements.
You will be invited for an 'interview' with any prospective new member of your family!
PLEASE NOTE: WORTHING CAT WELFARE TRUST RESERVES THE RIGHT TO TAKE BACK INTO OUR CARE ANY CAT ADOPTED
FROM US WHICH IS NOT, IN OUR OPINION, BEING CORRECTLY CARED FOR AND/OR IS NOT RECEIVING VETERINARY TREATMENT
THAT WE FEEL IS NECESSARY FOR ITS WELLBEING
